Carrie's Bio

Carrie Sheffield was raised in Overland Park, Kansas. Carrie grew up being the middle of two sisters. She graduated from Kansas State University with a B.S. in Family Studies and Human Services in 2000.  Carrie moved to Denver, Colorado in the summer of 2000. Colorado was an easy move she had wanted to make ever since she started skiing the Rocky Mountains.  Carrie took her first job out of college as a Day treatment leader at Mount Saint Vincent Home.  It was then she realized she really wanted to be an elementary teacher.  Carrie enrolled at Metropolitan State College of Denver and received her Elementary Education Teaching License.  Carrie taught 4th grade for four years at Greenwood Elementary in Denver Public Schools.  In 2006 she met the love of her life Court Sheffield who taught High School Art right down the road from Greenwood.  They later got married in the summer of 2007 and decided to move to Fort Collins to start a family. Carrie started teaching 4th grade at Olander Elementary. A year later in the summer of 2008 Trey their first born son came and Carrie wanted to be at home with Trey while still fulfilling her desire to help people and teach children.  Carrie’s brother in law’s sister Molly Carrol had originally started Girl Space in San Francisco, California now Flourish in Bend, Oregon.  Carrie thought it was the greatest idea.  She went to visit Molly and see what it was all about.  After a wonderful weekend in Bend she knew it was what she wanted to do.  That is how Blooming Girls developed.  Carrie knew that their was a need to help girls develop the life skills to reach their highest potential.  As a classroom teacher there was not enough time to really discuss the issues the girls were having.  Blooming Girls allows the girls to really dig deep into who they are and what is important about them.  Carrie loves watching the girls grow and become strong independent women.  Her mission is for the girls to take the skills they have learned and use them to become the best person they can be.  Carrie has recently partnered with the “Dove real beauty campaign” and plans to lead workshops for girls to improve self-esteem.

In her free time she enjoys spending time in the mountains, hiking, skiing, working out, reading, traveling and spending time with her family,  Court, Trey and Georgia!
